Calathea Rufibarba or Furry Feather Calathea is a focal plant having straight and shinny leaves and stems. The following texture of the stem and the leaves give it a velvety feel.
Light is one of the most important source of nutrition for a Calathea. These plants need lot of diffused sunlight, however if they are placed in direct sunlight, the leaves will start to fade and lose the markings. Calathea is best when kept in damp soil, but donot let the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil.
When it comes to temperatures, Calathea loves warm to high temperatures ideally between 18°C - 23°C. however it can even cope with temperature as low as 15°C. plus the ventilation should be reasonable.
Frequently misting the plant and high humidity levels are must. You can keep it for a day or two once in a month, in the Shower room or kitchen to boost the plant humid conditions.
